How the test is performed:

  • The patient sits behind the Fundus camera and looks directly into a highly intense viewing lamp. An extremely intense camera strobe flash, much like the flash on your regular camera, is exposed into their dilated eye. This is done for a minimum of three times on each eye.

  • Patients often complain that the flash is very intense or that its even painful, though the pain isn’t severe or temporary. Patients also complain that for at least ten minutes after the test they notice color perception is off and their general vision is reduced. The vision always returns to normal after the test. This test takes approximately ten min to complete.

  • After the test, a full color printout is available for physician review.
